From its origin as a local contractor in 1958, Anderson Columbia Co., Inc. (ACCI) has successfully grown to become one of the largest construction firms in the Southeast and is one of the largest heavy civil contractors in the United States having completed road and bridge building projects up to $500M. We are also the largest road builder in Florida, and one of the largest and fastest growing road builders in Texas. ACCI operates throughout the southeast United States, undertaking major projects in North and South Carolina as well. This success is a direct result of a corporate philosophy of combining highly qualified personnel with state-of-the-art technology committed to providing professional services on schedule and within budget.
ACCI is also a diversified materials producer with aggregate, crushed stone, and sand & gravel operations in Florida, Georgia, and Texas, cement operations in Florida, and asphalt operations in Florida and Texas. We are a multi-dimensional company with a diversity of operations, including:
Experience, foresight, and expertise in a strong management team, backed by quality personnel and equipment, has resulted in thousands of clients trusting ACCI to build their most complex products.
ACCI’s management distinguishes itself by providing unmatched attention to details. This approach has resulted in numerous awards for quality. Anderson Columbia was nationally recognized for the best paving job in the United States by being selected as the Sheldon G. Hayes Award winner for our paving of six lanes of I-75 in Lowndes County, Georgia. This coveted recognition is awarded to only one contractor each year in the entire United States.
ACCI has also received the prestigious A.P. “Pat” Bolton Award for the best paving job in Florida. Again, this award is only given to one contractor annually, and we have won it more often than any other contractor.
Providing innovative solutions to today’s construction challenges is one of the main reasons Anderson Columbia remains ranked in the Engineering News-Record Top 400 construction firms in the United States.
Ensuring that only quality materials are used during paving operations, Anderson Columbia easily meets strict customer quality specifications. Quality control is additionally enhanced by the operation of our own asphalt plants, of which many are mobile, allowing us to strategically locate a plant close to the construction site. These technically advanced plants included computer controlled mixing of hot mix asphalt.
Our dedication to technologically advanced processing and operations procedures has resulted in Anderson Columbia being a leader in ensuring cost savings, while assuring the conservation of energy and natural resources.
Anderson Columbia also has the ability and the experience to provide emergency response during crisis situations. For example, we were called on to immediately build a road across some swampy terrain in Jackson County, Florida, to allow access to a CSX Railroad train derailment. We were also able to respond quickly to rehabilitating State Road 20 in Walton County, Florida, after a portion of it had been washed away by a Hurricane Georges.
Diversification is a key element to the success of Anderson Columbia. Through subsidiaries and affiliates, ACCI has achieved vertical product integration that ultimately results in cost savings to our customers.
Our diversification only begins with construction. Through divisions within the company or through subsidiaries, we are actively involved in non-construction areas and businesses. For example, from our land holdings and leases, Anderson Columbia’s forestry division successfully manages timber products and production.
Being one of the major employers in the area, we take pride in being a leader in our community. As an example, ACCI donated the labor and material to construct an eight lane, 400 meter track at the new football stadium of the local high school. We also stay active in many social endeavors that benefit our citizens, such as The United Way, Big Brothers, Big Sisters, and the Columbia Youth Livestock Show. We remain proud of our continuing community involvement.
Anderson Columbia is one of the largest highway construction firms in the Southeast, and has built or rehabilitated thousands of miles of highways, roadways, and streets in Florida, Georgia and Alabama.
With an award winning tradition, Anderson Columbia’s accomplishments continue to be acclaimed within the construction industry.
